Why light therapy is a safe & effective treatment for psoriasis | June 2017
By Dr. Christina Gelbard

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that can be very distressing for patients, especially at this time of year. Because the skin develops red, flaky patches, it can be difficult to wear shorts, t-shirts, or swimsuits without exposing involved skin.

Classic areas of involvement include the elbows and knees, but psoriasis can also affect the scalp, lower back, hands and feet. Psoriasis can also cause changes in your fingernails and toenails, and some people get arthritis as well.

At REN Dermatology, we are experts at treating psoriasis with a safe and effective approach. As Board-certified Dermatologists, we are highly skilled at assessing and diagnosing psoriasis, and creating a customized treatment plan for you. In the last several years, many new medications have received FDA-approval to treat psoriasis. We are on the cutting edge of the most current medications on the market, and we know how to carefully and appropriately monitor your progress.
