Beyond heart health and bone building, exercise has a positive effect on your skin’s appearance. Engaging in physical activity gives your complexion a natural and beautiful glow, in addition to boosting the flow of oxygen and blood to your skin cells, including nutrients that improve your overall skin health. And don’t be afraid to sweat! Sweat purges your body of toxins that can clog pores and plague your skin with blemishes.
However, since exercising allows the sweat glands to increase their functions and rid the body of toxins, its important to wash your face as soon as you’re finished being active—you don’t want that junk just sitting on your skin! For that reason, be sure to always shower after a workout to prevent bacterial or fungal infections from occurring due to dirt clogging up your pores.
We asked our friends at D1 Sports Training for some tips and tricks to exercising. D1 is located in Cool Springs, and is focused on delivering athletic-based training programs, expert coaching and sports therapy, in a high-energy and motivational environment. See what they suggest when hitting the gym in 2015, while keeping yourself from getting burned out.
- Stay hydrated. Your body needs water, so be sure to keep a water bottle nearby during workouts.
- You can’t out-train a bad diet. A balanced diet gives you the fuel you need to perform at your best.
- Always stretch! Foam rollers are a great tool to use at home or in the gym.
- Rest days are a must. Allowing your muscles to recover from a workout recharges them.
- Know your limits! Modifying workouts can help prevent new injuries from occurring, and old injuries from recurring.
