Annual Sale
Working in dermatology is both a blessing and a curse — I know too much to skip my skincare routine, and I’ve tried enough treatments to know exactly what works. So when Summer Sale rolls around, I’m not just recommending these things to patients. I’m genuinely shopping for myself.
Here’s what’s on my list, and how I actually work it into real life as a busy mom who values natural results and limited downtime.
My Daily Non-Negotiables
Before any treatment does its job, your skin has to be in good shape day-to-day. We clock a lot of hours at the park, so a daily antioxidant and sun protection are nonnegotiable.
Morning Routine
- SkinBetter Science Alto Advanced Defense + Repair Serum — my vitamin C step, every single morning
- EltaMD UV AOX Elements Broad-Spectrum SPF 50 or Revision Intellishade — sunscreen is the one thing I will never compromise on
- EltaMD UV Sport Broad-Spectrum SPF 50 — my go-to for body sunscreen
Evening Routine
- SkinBetter Science AlphaRet Overnight Cream — if anti-aging is your main concern, this is my pick. Effective without being overly irritating.
Quarterly Treatments I Actually Keep
Neuromodulator (Botox or Dysport)
Keeps me looking like my two-year-old didn’t wake me up overnight. I like to keep lines from becoming static without looking overdone.
Microneedling
I rotate between SkinPen Microneedling — great collagen boost, minimal downtime — and Sylfirm X when I want extra tightening or texture improvement. Together, they’ve made a real difference in my skin quality.
HydraFacial + Dermaplaning
I only fit in one of each last year, and I genuinely notice when I skip them. Adding more to my calendar this year — the Summer Sale is the perfect time to pre-purchase a package.
The Bigger Treatments I Plan Around
UltraClear Laser
My skin reset, once a year. I timed mine with the ice storm this winter and took a full week at home to recover — worth every day. It improves tone, texture, and overall skin quality in a way nothing else replicates.
Clear + Brilliant
If downtime isn’t realistic, this is a gentler option I’d do 2–3 times a year instead. Still makes a real difference in tone and texture.
What I’m Adding Next
As I approach my fourth decade, I’m thinking more proactively about volume. Both of these stimulate your own collagen over time and address the subtle volume loss that starts in your 30s — bigger investments, but the kind that pay off over years.
Full-Face Radiesse or Sculptra
I’m planning a full-face treatment with one of my colleagues. Both biostimulators build your own collagen over time — a long-term investment in skin health rather than a quick fix.
Ultherapy
I’m eyeing Ultherapy for lower face tightening. A deeper structural investment that works gradually and pairs beautifully with the collagen-building treatments above.
